ABOUT
The Students’ Union plays a key role in Academy life. Whether you’d like to join a specific club, need advice from a friendly face or just want to make sure you don’t miss out on the best social events, we’re here for you.
Every enrolled student is automatically a member of the Students’ Union (SU). The academic year starts with Freshers’ Week, which is a great time to explore all the clubs on offer (but you’re welcome to sign up to any of our societies at any time). Other social highlights include the Christmas Party and Summer Ball.
We hold regular jazz jams, pub quizzes and karaokes and we often work alongside charities including Therapy Dogs Nationwide. We have an ever-growing list of student-led clubs, including our LGBTQIA+, Ethnic Diversity and Feminist Societies, as well as Football and Basketball teams. Check out the full list of clubs & societies below!

We screen the landmarks of European Cinema and Art House Productions— from the silent era to the 21st Century.
Rediscover the flow of image, colour and sound through time and space. Question aesthetic values of dominant cinema and Hollywood, and related notions of text-based picture.
Join us on Wednesday evening at 6:30pm and come along to the Arthouse Movie Club! Bring a friend- or even a date ;) All we ask is to respect the picture, as if you’re in a cinema, and keep talking to a minimum.

RAM ESG Committee
This committee was set up in June 2024 due to student interest in the Academy's role in global issues, such as war and climate change. The student committee works alongside an equivalent staff committee and works to give the students a voice on these issues as the Academy works to improve its sustainability. The first aim is to get the Academy to divest from companies complicit in war crimes and climate breakdown, particularly Israel's ongoing war crimes in Gaza. ESG stands for Environmental, Social and Governance.
